About welding rod
Welding rods (electrodes) are consumable metal wires coated in flux used in SMAW (stick) welding to create an electric arc, melt, and fill joints. The flux coating shields the molten pool from atmospheric contamination and forms slag, while the core wire provides filler metal. Common types include E6010 (deep penetration), E6013 (smooth/general purpose), and E7018 (high-strength/low-hydrogen).
